Join KAI LIN ART as we host our third Open Call for Artists to participate in our annual juried works on paper exhibition, THE NEW SOUTH III. This year’s exhibition aims to bring attention to the artistic dialogue happening in the Contemporary South and to celebrate the largely versatile medium of paper. The competition is open to both emerging and established artists who have lived or worked in the Southeast. Please submit your artwork and application form before May 6, 2018 to be considered.

  •  All artwork must include paper in some form and created by the artist within the last 5 years.
  • Artists under the age of 18 must have signed parental consent.

  • Artwork must not exceed 40 inches in any direction.

  • Submitting artists must have lived or worked in the Southeastern Region, USA.

  • Artists may submit up to five (5) images for the $25 application fee, and $5 for each additional artwork.


  • All submissions must be made online per instruction on by May 6, 2018 at 11:59 pm.

  • Images must be high quality JPEG format between 1MB – 2MB, 300DPI, 1,500 pixels wide.


If you have submitted to The New South in the past you may notice that we have changed our submission process to a totally digital form. We will not be accepting submissions by email or post. This will greatly expedite the jurying process and notification of acceptances.
