Think about the unusual structures you see from day-to-day. The focal points of a city whose bizarre buildings, commercial signage, or other visual landmarks create communities and define a neighborhood’s character. They connect us to one another through personal experiences—no matter where we’re from—and chances are, we all hold offbeat places like these in our memories. We don’t miss them until they’re gone.

My work identifies locations of architectural, historical, and visual interest from celebrated Seattle neighborhoods, whose personalities are being muscled by population growth and progress. The pieces I’ve created tell visual stories of Seattle’s transition from past to present, and prompt thought and discussion of the process in which we decide to discard a city’s colorful and quirky history in favor of modern progress.
