My art is about an imaginary world.  I am inspired by memories, daydreams and my curiosity about things around us.  These creations combine the real with the imaginary now with then and what we actually see with what the mind sees.  Perhaps a miniature society lays claim to the same real estate as our own.  Day and night or the seasons may appear simultaneously.  The large and the small swap places.  lt ‘s meant to be both idiosyncratic and ambiguous.

I was born in Detroit, Michigan in April of 1942.  My family lived in Detroit during all of my formative years.  I attended Detroit Public Schools from kindergarten through high school graduation in 1960.  College years were spent at the University of Michigan in Ann Arbor, where I earned a Bachelor of Science in Graphic Design in I965.  My first career was in the fine paper business and I was employed in the distribution and manufacturing sectors of that industry through the early l980′s.  In 1983 I earned a Diploma in Visual Communications at Atlanta’s Portfolio Center.  For the next fifteen years I created graphic design and advertising for studios agencies and as a freelancer.

My painting career began in the early 1990′s.  At first I painted part-time while working in art galleries, at a book publisher and in my design practice.  Since 1998 I’ve been a fine artist exclusively.  I’ve created over 400 unique paintings, drawings and watercolors since1991.  My work has been exhibited in galleries in several states and I’ve participated in over sixty curated and juried group and solo shows.  My first solo museum show was held at the LaGrange Art Museum in LaGrange, Georgia in 2006.  Since 1997 I’ve been published four times in New American Paintings and four times in American Art Collector from Alcove Books (The original American Art Collector was a quarterly, now an annual, published by Alcove Books of Berkeley, California. The magazine which uses that same name began publishing at a later date.).  My work can be found in 175 private, corporate, public, and museum collections.  My wife, Donna, and I live in Marietta, GA.  She is an analyst for an international insurance firm, a Reiki master and a promising writer.  Between us we have four children and six grandchildren.
