opening Friday, April 11th, 2014
7:00 – 10:00 pm
runs through June 6th, 2014
Sam Parker | In Returning Home, Sam Parker explores process of being human and facing the mortality inherent in that process. Returning home refers to finding one’s personal experience of finding their place in the world. Parker draws upon tarot cards, sacred geometry, and his own life to explore these themes. The imagery coupled with a pseudo-kitsch aesthetic marked by quant landscapes heightens the human experience.
Peter Ferrari | Peter Ferrari’s series explores the human subconscious and how it governs the decisions and behaviors of people. He uses a hand motif throughout his work since the hand is the tool of the mind. It is the observable action that mirrors the inner working of the subconscious that often go unnoticed in our day-to-day lives. This work explores both the personal and universal feelings of the interior world that we all inhabit.
Larry Jens Anderson | Larry Anderson uses words as both subject and image in his new series. The series explores the well-known phrase “A Picture Is Worth A 1000 Words.” A term that has been adopted by the fine arts community to show rather explain. Anderson uses the term to explore how images have the ability to tell a story rather than explaining with words.
